1991

DUKE UNIVERSITY

Sally has the distinction of complementing her degree in Sociology and Marketing at Duke University with the most obscure study-abroad program she could find (living in a dung hut with an African tribe). While there, she received a Certificate in Women’s Studies at the University of Nairobi.

Rising star creative director

Sally has a meteoric rise to international fame in advertising, winning more awards in the span of her first two years than any other US writer in history.

Boosting brands

Over one billion fascinated: Sally rises to the top of the advertising game in her early 20s, designing ads that fascinate consumers worldwide for Nike, Godiva and Harley Davidson.

1998

Trailblazing Entrepreneur

Just four years after starting out as a junior copywriter, Sally launches LA partnership agency, Robaire & Hogshead.

2001

Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Venice

Sally opens Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Venice Beach. Client list includes Rémy Martin, Target Corporation; agency wins numerous awards, among them #1 Best Magazine Campaign for MINI Cooper.

Award-winning expertise

Over the course of her ad career, Sally wins hundreds of awards for creativity, copywriting and branding, earning almost every major international award on record, including the Kelly Award for Best Campaign, the Cannes Lions (formerly International Advertising) Festival Award, the Clio, and four gold medals at the Advertising One Show. Her advertising work has been on exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Radical Careering

Sally’s first book, Radical Careering, is released to widespread acclaim. The book gives 100 “truths” about personal branding based on research among thousands of Gen X professionals.

Discovering Fascination

Sally discovers that “fascination” is the most intense form of focus, driving decision-making of all sorts. She begins ten years of research in neurology, biology, economics, history and anthropology to discover the forms of communication that trigger responses in the human brain. By combining this research with her extensive brand-building background, Sally discovers the seven “Triggers” of fascination.

Personality Assessment Rooted in Branding

Sally and her team explore the concept of personality assessments for individuals, based on the same research and brand system for organizations.

The Fascinate System

Sally’s team creates data-driven custom reports for each of 49 different personality archetypes. Clients receive counseling on how to implement individual action plans to grow their business and achieve personal goals.

Launching Fascinate

Sally publishes her second book, FASCINATE: Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation. The book identifies the types of brand communication that companies use to fascinate customers using research gathered from 100,000 individuals.

The world’s first personality assessment rooted in branding (the “F-Score Test”) debuts as a free social media engagement tool around the book’s launch.

2012

Sally focuses on developing an algorithm for implementing the Fascinate system and expands her research.

Sally accepts speaking engagements, including one for TedX. She is inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame®, the speaking industry’s highest award for professional excellence.

HarperCollins partnered with Sally on her new book, HOW THE WORLD SEES YOU, based on the Fascination Advantage system, extensive market studies, and proprietary research inside some of the world’s top-performing organizations.

New York Times Best Seller

HarperCollins publishes HOW THE WORLD SEES YOU in 2014 and it rises to #2 New York Times Bestseller, #1 Wall Street Journal Best Seller, Amazon editor top pick, IBM book of the month, and the Oprah Winfrey “Best Self-Help Book That Works.”  Sally makes the list of top speakers of Meetings Professionals International, Meetings and Conventions in 2014 and 2015.

REVISING FASCINATE FOR PROFESSIONALS

Harper Collins publishes Sally’s Fascinate, Revised and Updated in 2016, taking the Fascination Advantage System and applying it to small businesses and professionals. The book becomes a New York Times Best Seller and earns Sally #1 Wall Street Journal Best Seller acclaim.
